Anyone who supports working people supports this order. That’s why it’s so disturbing that the Republicans who have been claiming they want to be a party for working people would vote to end this much needed rule – to make workplaces less safe, healthy and effective. This is unacceptable. We need to let every Senator know that a vote to undo these reasonable regulations is a vote against working people – plain and simple. There’s no excuse for it and we will remember this vote the next time we go to the ballot box.
Today, Republicans are attacking your rights on the job. The Senate is voting to hurt working people by repealing President Obama’s 2014 Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces executive order. The commonsense order that made sure companies contracted by the federal government comply with worker protection laws, including laws related to safety, sexual harassment, anti-discrimination, minimum wage and overtime. The order protects working people from unscrupulous contractors who may try to take advantage of workers while receiving government funds.
